ND Google Summit

I'm a week late posting this but the ND Google Summit is still incredibly fresh in my mind!  What a blast it was!  Ken Shelton, Rushton Hurley, Mark Hammons, and Monica Martinez were the Featured Speakers and inspired listeners with their messages of transforming learning, letting students create more, and being the example.  My favorite quote from this weekend was, "Be more like your students are when they are not in school"- Ken Shelton.   I can't agree more.

When Kjiesta and heard about the ND Google Summit, we were dead set on attending.  Our school didn't have the funds to send us, so we brainstormed what we could offer in a session- free registration.  That's when it hit us that we needed to show the google community how this stuff affects kids.  The new google gadgets are always awesome, but it's not awesome until it's in the hands of the kids.
We are so proud of our 5th grade students.  They are amazing google practioners.  They use google so naturally.  When we show them the newest gadgets google apps has to offer, they're really almost unimpressed UNTIL they have a purpose for using it.

Our session was titled "Becoming Google Practioners."

Below are a few quotes that were tweeted out about the kids during our sessions.

"Google Docs are really great for writing because I want to be a novelist when I grow up"- Gabby.

"Google Forms- The easiest and most efficient way to collet and organize information"- Grace

"Google Presentation is great because kids can it for personal interest projects and embed videos"- Joey

"Blogger is a creative way for me to connect with people about great books"- Stella

We also rocked the photo booth!
